Writing journey, hm? What springs to YOUR mind?

Welcome to my e-portfolio website! My name is Irine Tyutereva, and I’m a freshman in college. I’m currently taking a semester off and enrolled in a couple classes at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California. I love to read, go shopping, hang out with my friends, and watch new movies. On the academic side, I particularly enjoy math and languages, but I also like analytical writing in various subjects. I tutor kids and teach high school juniors the SAT, and I love to teach. I also tutor once or twice per week.
This is an e-portfolio of my work in an English1A Honors class at Foothill. In this class, we read three novels, wrote in-class timed essays, and wrote out-of-class essays as well. Here, I present both timed and untimed work and analyze them separately and then against each other. I also want to reflect on how I have evolved as a writer in this particular class. I think my writing is both interesting and educational for myself and others as well. Not only do I try to capture the reader's attention, I also present research findings in an interesting way. Since two of my three papers are research essays, I would like to use these two examples to show how I developed as a researcher.
I will have exhibits of my in-class timed work as well as my out-of-class papers. I will compare the kind of work I am able to do in class and its evolution, work I do out of class, and then compare in-class and out-of-class work against each other. I will reflect on my evolution and improvement as a writer in this class.
Please feel free to leave me any comments – comments are very much appreciated! Enjoy!
To help you navigate my site, I have split it up into sections by books that we have read in my class.

The first book is Catfish and Mandala: http://irinecatfish.blogspot.com/

The second book is The World is Flat: http://irineflatworld.blogspot.com/

The third book is Earth Odyssey: http://irineeo.blogspot.com/

I have included my written work and a section entitled "My Thoughts" after each piece of written work I have completed in order to show what new skills I learned and how I evaluated the work I had completed. Please leave comments on either my work or my evaluation!
